What is Sickle Cell Anemia?

Sickle Cell Anemia, or Sickle Cell Disease, is a group of red blood cell disorders. Red blood cells (RBCs) contain hemoglobin, a protein that carries oxygen. Healthy RBCs are round and move through small blood vessels to carry oxygen to all parts of the body.
